Türkiye detains 33 in five provinces over suspected links to FETÖ Gold and Cash Seized
As many as 33 people suspected of having links to the Fethullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) have been detained in 5 provinces of Türkiye.
Seven of the suspects had illegally left the country, and the search for one more suspect is still ongoing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
During the raids, authorities seized 100,000 Turkish liras (over $2,500), 33 gold coins, 2 grams of gold, and a large number of digital materials and documents.
Notably, the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), led by U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gülen, is accused by the Turkish government of orchestrating the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016. Since then, Ankara has carried out extensive operations across the country and abroad to dismantle the network, which had deeply infiltrated state institutions, including the military, judiciary, and police.
Tens of thousands of individuals have been arrested or dismissed from public service for alleged links to the group. FETÖ members are known to use encrypted communication apps, coded messages, and financial fronts to operate discreetly. Turkish authorities continue to conduct raids and intelligence operations to uncover hidden cells and financial networks associated with the group.
