Russia yet to hand over draft settlement memorandum to Ukraine – Kremlin
Russia has not yet submitted its draft memorandum on a potential settlement to Ukraine, with work on the document still underway, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Speaking to reporters on May 26, Peskov emphasised that the memorandum represents a “serious project” and requires “careful verification and preparation” before it can be shared with the Ukrainian side, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He added that the process remains in progress and that no timeline has been set for its completion.
“The Russian draft memorandum has not been handed over yet. Work is ongoing. This is a serious document, and it needs to be thoroughly reviewed and prepared,” Peskov said.
The Kremlin official also stated that there is currently no clear understanding regarding the continuation of talks between Russia and Ukraine, nor has a venue been confirmed. “Preparations for a second round are necessary,” he noted.
Peskov went on to express Russia’s gratitude to Türkiye for hosting earlier discussions, praising the “ideal conditions” provided during the previous negotiations held in Istanbul.
