Seyed Yahya Hosseiny Panjaki, also known as Seyed Yahya Hamidi, a senior figure in Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), is reportedly under investigation for his alleged role in orchestrating international assassination and terror operations.
Hamidi currently heads the MOIS Directorate for Internal Security and also serves as the Deputy Minister of Intelligence responsible for Israel-related affairs, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities are seeking to question him in connection with suspected plots that allegedly span intelligence, operational, and cyber networks.
The alleged activities include coordination between the MOIS and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), with operations reportedly targeting Iranian dissidents abroad, particularly those based in the United States.
According to intelligence sources, the Directorate for Internal Security is accused of directing the criminal network led by Naji Sharifi Zindashti. This group and its affiliates are believed to have pursued dissidents from at least December 2020 through to around March 2021.
Hamidi is said to have been the superior of Reza Hamidi Ravari, another Iranian intelligence officer currently wanted for questioning in relation to similar activities.
