15 May 2025 18:52

The head of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), Taleh Kazimov, has been invited to Astana to participate in the first meeting of the Council of Central Banks of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).

This meeting is scheduled to take place on May 27, 2025, in Astana, Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

During a recent meeting with Alim Bayel, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan, the possibility of issuing a commemorative coin dedicated to the interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan was also discussed.

Ambassador Bayel formally extended the invitation to Chairman Kazimov for the inaugural Council session. In response, Kazimov confirmed his attendance and emphasised that the initiative to establish the Council was proposed by the Kazakh side. He also noted that the central banks of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan maintain effective cooperation, particularly in the exchange of experience and on international platforms.

The ambassador highlighted the strong level of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, especially in the field of economic cooperation. He pointed out that, alongside the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, productive partnerships have been established with key Kazakh institutions such as the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market, and the Astana International Financial Centre.
