Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Pakistan cooperation may reshape power balance Article by STAR newspaper
A deepening trilateral defense partnership among Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Pakistan is poised to reshape power balance across a broad swath of territory—from South Asia to the Caucasus and Anatolia.
A recent agreement for the delivery of JF-17 Block III multirole fighter jets to Azerbaijan stands out as a key milestone in this emerging alliance, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish Star newspaper.
The aircraft also incorporates critical Turkish technologies, including ASELPOD targeting systems produced by the Turkish defense firm ASELSAN.
The defense cooperation among the three nations may significantly influence the regional balance of power and lead to the formation of new security alignments—drawing increased international attention. A total of 40 JF-17 Block III jets are expected to be delivered to Azerbaijan from Pakistan.
The Azerbaijani Air Force formally presented several aircraft to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in autumn 2024, marking a visible step forward in the nation's air capabilities. In addition to highlighting the technological integration and regional implications, the strategic importance of the Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition (ADEX) should be mentioned. The event has become a key platform for defense dialogue and cooperation, particularly between Ankara and Baku.
