Armenian security chief: Consultations underway with Baku to sign peace agreement
Armenia is holding diplomatic consultations with Azerbaijan aimed at signing a peace agreement, Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council, has announced.
Speaking to Armenian media, Grigoryan confirmed that negotiations are ongoing through diplomatic channels to finalise a peace treaty between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports.
He added that the text of the agreement has been agreed upon and only awaits formal signing.
Grigoryan also indicated Armenia’s willingness to disband the OSCE Minsk Group’s working group on the day the peace deal is signed.
However, this statement is yet another attempt by Yerevan to mislead the international community. Official Baku has repeatedly emphasised that the signing of a peace agreement is only possible after amendments are made to the Armenian constitution, which contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
Another condition set by Azerbaijan is the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, established to resolve the Karabakh conflict in the 1990s.
