TASS: Serbia to not join sanctions against Russia, says PM

27 June 2025 11:31

Serbia will not join sanctions against Russia, Prime Minister Djuro Macut stated in his first foreign interview, speaking to TASS.

"As long as I am Prime Minister, the Serbian government will not join sanctions against Russia," he said, Caliber.Az quotes.

Former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin previously noted that sanctions against Russia would have cost the country €15 billion, putting the republic at risk of destruction.

Serbia's parliament approved endocrinologist Djuro Macut as Prime Minister of the Balkan country on April 16, following months of anti-corruption protests that led his predecessor to resign.

Macut has previously said Belgrade would continue balancing between its EU membership bid and ties with China, a major investor, Russia, a traditional ally, and the United States.
