Italian minister to attend opening ceremony of Azerbaijan’s combined-cycle power plant

Italy’s Minister for Enterprises and "Made in Italy" Products, Adolfo Urso, is set to visit Azerbaijan officially, where he will attend the inauguration of a new power plant at the “Azerbaijan” Thermal Power Station. 

During his visit, Urso will participate in the opening ceremony of a new combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,280 megawatts at the “Azerbaijan” Thermal Power Station located in Mingachevir, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

This power plant is the largest energy facility built in Azerbaijan since the country gained independence. It is expected to be the most efficient thermal power station in the nation, consuming the least amount of natural gas per kilowatt-hour of electricity generated.

In preparation for the plant’s launch, Azerenergy specialists have undergone training in Italy and China, while international partner companies’ representatives have frequently visited the Mingachevir site. Training efforts continue ensuring smooth operation of turbines, generators, and automated systems.
