Israeli military strikes Hamas operative in southern Syria
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said that it carried out an airstrike on a member of the Palestinian militant group Hamas near the town of Mazraat Beit Jinn in southern Syria, the army’s press service announced.
The IDF did not disclose the identity of the targeted militant, per Caliber.Az.
On June 3, 2025, the IDF launched airstrikes in southern Syria in response to two projectiles fired toward Israel, which landed in open areas without causing casualties. The Israeli military held Syria’s interim President, Ahmed al-Sharaa, directly responsible for the incident. In retaliation, Israeli forces shelled southern Syria, targeting military assets in Daraa province. Defence Minister Israel Katz emphasised that Syria would be held accountable for any cross-border aggression.
