UK premier to host NATO chief for key defence talks in London
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to meet NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte on June 9 in London for high-level discussions focused on strengthening collective defence within the alliance, Downing Street has announced.
According to a government spokesperson, the meeting will centre on increasing defence spending among NATO member states, as well as the United Kingdom’s forthcoming Strategic Defence Review, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
"You can expect the Prime Minister and Secretary General to talk about how we ensure all allies step up their defence spending now in order to respond to the threats that we face now," the spokesperson told reporters.
The NATO Secretary General will also give a speech at Chatham House and visit Sheffield Forgemasters with the Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey.
