Media: North Korea urges US to abandon aggression, not to expand arsenal
The North Korean Ministry of National Defence has issued a warning to the US, asserting that Washington's security would be better served by ending military threats rather than expanding its defence capabilities.
The perceived external threats facing the US mainland are not caused by the actions of other states, but are instead the direct result of America’s own policy of military pressure and hegemonic ambition, Caliber.Az reports via North Korean media.
North Korean officials condemned what they described as an unjustified push to modernize and expand US armed forces. The ministry stated that a dependable path to safeguarding the US mainland does not lie in reckless military expansion, but in a consistent renunciation of military threats. Security cannot be achieved through intimidation and dominance.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, where the US has increased its military presence and defense partnerships in response to growing concerns about regional stability — including North Korea’s continued weapons development. In response, Pyongyang reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering its own deterrence capabilities, citing the US expanding militarisation in the region as justification.
